MISTY BLUE
By Tom Hunnicutt
(Intro Bb)
Misty Blue, I’m missing you – My Misty Blue.
I send my love up through the pine to ride upon the wind to you,
And if you’re listening you will know
The feelings deep inside I hold – for Misty Blue (my Misty Blue).
1. Her soldier boy he wore the gray – he left and went to war one day;
He left his home near Anniville to fight for southern loyality.
When spring and summer’ve come and gone, and autumn leafs begin to fall.
When wild geese start headin’ south – I’ll be coming home, Misty Blue.
2. The year was 1864 when Yankees came down from the north,
They met the grays at Morgan’s Mill and battles raged thoughout these hills.
Now many young men died that day, some wore the blue and some the gray.
but Misty Blue she wore the black – as she knelt down beside his grave.
3. The years passed by and she grew old, but her love for him did not fade,
She lived alone throughout the years by handing on to memories.
Now for reasons that I cannot say – her ghost came to Morgan’s mill;
And I have seen her many nights walking hand in hand with him.
4. Now I grew up on Martin Creek – not to far from Morgan’s Mill;
And even to this very day – I can hear the battles ragging still.
Yet, sometimes on a moonlite night – the battles stop about midnight,
and if you’r listening to the wind - you’ll hear him calling out again.
(Ending)
Misty Blue, I’m missing you – My Misty Blue.
I send my love up through the pine to ride upon the wind to you,
And if you’re listening you will know
The feelings deep inside I hold – for Misty Blue (my Misty Blue).
