The Progress of Man
By Tom Hunnicutt
From the dawning of time – man has moved along
And unlike other kinds in order to survie,
H had to rely on his brain,
So he looked at his hand and he made him a fist,
And The Progress of Man started on.
1. Then came another man who carried a club, beat the man with the fist.
Then he ruled for a while and The Progress of Man now moved along.
2. Still there came another man, who carried a spear, beat the man with his club.
Then he ruled for a while, as The Progress of Man continues on!
3. But soon came another man, who carried a sword, beat the man with his spear.
Then he ruled for a while, as The Progress of Man now marched along!
4. Yet there came another man and he carried a bow, beat the man with his sword.
Then he ruled for a while, as The Progress of Man advances on!
From a hand to a fist, from a fist to a club,
From a club to a spear, from a spear to a sword,
From a sword to a bow and The Progress of Man - get it on!!
Then for a while there came a calm, but it didn’t linger on.
No the story don’t stop here – it just continues on.
For there came other men and they carried guns, beat the men with their bows,
And they ruled for a while, as The Progress of Man proceeded on!!
1. Then came other men, who made them a cannon, beat the men with their guns,
Then they ruled for a while, as The Progress of Man rolls along!
2. Yet, there came other men, who had made them a bomb, beat the men with their cannons.
then they ruled for a while, and The Progress of Man now flys along!
3. Still came other men, who made them a missle, beat the men with the bombs.
Then they ruled for a while, and The Progress of Man now zooms along!
From a hand to a fist, from a fist to a club,
From a club to a spear, from a spear to a sword,
From a sword to a bow, from a bow to gun,
From a gunt to a cannon, from a cannon to a bomb,
From a bomb to a bigger one....
THE ATOMIC BOMB!!!!
And Like the dawning of the time, there must be a sitting sun,
But unlike other kinds, in order to suvive, we must rely on our brians,
If “The Progress of Man” is to continue on.!!!
